Dear Friends of the German Business Community,
While heading towards the end of 2022, GESALO would like to thank its partners and collaborators for contributing to a successful year. Together, we can look back on engaging events and numerous delegation visits to the Kingdom that fostered bilateral economic relations.
With the development of new sectors in Saudi Arabia, the business opportunities for German companies are multiplying. The automotive industry is only one example which will be highlighted in our next GSBM issue in December. Despite the global economic turmoil, the results of the AHK Business Outlook 2022 suggest an optimistic future for the Saudi economy and both its national and international stakeholders.
After limited activities in the years of Covid, 2023 will kick-off with delegation visits on Smart Cities and Power Generation from Solar and Wind. The trade fair sector is also in full swing again: Our team will support the Saudi pavilion at the „Grüne Woche” in Berlin, followed by the Spielwarenmesse and Fruit Logistica.

On Tuesday, November 29th, 2022 GESALO invites to the Bahraini-German Business Network Event on behalf of H.E. Clemens Hach, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, and Dr. Dalia Samra-Rohte, the Delegate of German Industry & Commerce for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain & Yemen. Part of the program is a panel discussion. During the event the participants will discuss lessons learned of German companies entering the Bahraini market and on sustainability strategies of Bahraini-based companies. |

Saudi Arabia is reinventing its cities. In addition to mega projects such as NEOM, King Abdullah Economic City, Yanbu and Jubail City, various development projects are being initiated. From March 5th to March 9th, 2023, the German-Saudi Arabian Liaison Office for Economic Affairs (GESALO) together with MENA Business GmbH and with the support of the Logistics Alliance Germany (LAG) organizes a business initialization trip to Saudi Arabia on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. This is a project-related funding measure of the market entry program targeting small and medium-sized German companies (SMEs).

Internationally active companies are feeling major challenges in their business environment in almost every corner of the globe. The survey of more than 3,100 German companies active abroad makes it clear: from the point of view of international German companies, the global economy is facing a frosty winter. The main reasons are the economic consequences of the Russian war against Ukraine and China's zero-covid policy.
