Dear Friends of the German Business Community,
We wish you a happy and successful year 2023! At GESALO, we initiated the new year with two roundtables – one among CEOs of German companies in Saudi-Arabia and a high-level gathering with a visitor from the German Foreign Ministry. The German-Saudi Arabian energy dialogue continues its fruitful work to foster a stronger cooperation on innovative solutions for a sustainable energy supply in both countries. There will be a Saudi energy delegation to Germany, negotiating hydrogen offtake-agreements as well as a working group meeting in February.
On the same note, we are looking forward to our Solar and Wind Energy Delegation next week with over seven German companies participating.

GESALO is hosting in cooperation with Renewables Academy (RENAC) AG a Power generation from solar & wind energy incl. CSP Symposium in Riyadh. The delegation and the symposium are a project-related funding measure within the framework of the export initiative energy of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action of Germany (BMWK).
Seven German companies offering different products in the field of Solar and Wind as well as CSP. They will present their products, technologies and services to a professional Saudi audience and are looking forward to exchanging potential business opportunities.

February 5-9, 2023
The Renewables Academy (RENAC) AG together with GESALO invites to the energy business delegation on the topic of energy generation from solar and wind energy incl. CSP within the framework of the export initiative energy of BMWK.
It will take place from February 05th to 9th, 2023 in Riyadh. At the sympoisum on February 7, 2023, in Riyadh, German companies can present their products and services to Saudi business professionals (see above). GESALO will organize individual appointments with decision-makers and potential partners.

Saudi Arabia is reinventing its cities. In addition to mega projects such as NEOM, King Abdullah Economic City, Yanbu and Jubail City, various development projects are being initiated.From March 5th to March 9th, 2023, the German-Saudi Arabian Liaison Office for Economic Affairs (GESALO) together with MENA Business GmbH and with the support of the Logistics Alliance Germany (LAG) organizes a business initialization trip to Saudi Arabia on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.

At GESALO, we kicked off the new year with our CEO Roundtable. It takes place every three months with dedicated leaders from German companies based in Saudi Arabia.
The group of experts exchanged updates on the newest developments of the project market as well as an outlook on the year 2023.

On Thursday. January 26th the Business Roundtable took place at the GESALO office.On the occasion of the visit of Tobias Tuchel, Commissioner for the Middle East and North Africa at the Federal Foreign Office Germany the representatives from thyssenkrupp, Siemens, DYWIDAG Saudi Arabia Co. Ltd. and SportsHub Saudi Arabia, exchanged experiences on economic trends, opportunities and developments in Saudi Arabia.

This joint study looks at the clean hydrogen cooperation potential between Saudi Arabia and Germany.
Clean hydrogen refers to renewable and low-carbon hydrogen derived from a production process in which carbon emissions into the atmosphere are avoided and mitigated or captured and utilized.
The study also looks at the opportunities and challenges for Germany and Saudi Arabia to cooperate along the hydrogen value chain, i.e., production, supply, distribution, and applications.

A festival for the senses
The Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) took place at the Internationale Grüne Woche in Berlin, Germany. The international conference IGW23 discussed the trends and outlook for the global agriculture and food industry. More than 60 ministers of agriculture from all over the world participated.
The Green Week opened it doors until January 29th. It was an impressive opportunity to visit international exhibitors creating a marketplace of cultures and to experience different flavors.
