On 15 September 2024, the Saudi Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) will be fully implemented including the hefty penalties of up to several million SAR that apply in case of non-compliance. To better understand the content and structure of the law, Hundt & Partners draws a comparison between the PDPL and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the European Union which has inspired the Saudi legislation to some extent. The audience will also be enlightened about the legally required Data Protection Officers (DPOs), their responsibilities and their liability.

It was an insightful exchange on the new business trends highlighting business opportunities in SaudiArabia and the region.

The mining sector is on an impressive upswing with new exploration licenses and opportunities for mining technology. 15 German companies from the Mining and Minerals sector visited Saudi Arabia in April and presented their state-of-the-art technology during the Mining symposium. The successful event raised a strong interest in the Saudi business community. It was organized by GESALO together with their partners Mena Business GmbH and the VDMA on behalf of the German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).
As part of the program Gesalo organized meetings with relevant institutions and companies in Riyadh and the Eastern Province. We received very positive feedback from the German companies, who set up first contacts aiming to come back very soon!
