After focusing on relationship building during the month of Ramadan, business is in full speed again. GESALO organized several CEO roundtables in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam where the importance of the Saudi market for German companies was confirmed. An exchange with German Parliamentarian was also an important event to showcase the vast opportunities the Kingdom is offering.

From September 14 until 18, 2025, GESALO, together with RENAC AG, is organizing a project fact-finding trip on the topic of energy infrastructure with a focus on decentralized smart grids & transnational grid connections.
The aim of the business delegation is to give the participants an overview of the Saudi energy infrastructure with a focus on decentralized smart grids and transnational grid connections, to get to know relevant players and projects in the energy sector and to enable them to exchange ideas with each other in order to develop a realistic assessment of possible business scenarios. The export initiative is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) and Mittelstand Global – Energy Solutions made in Germany .

This week our Head of the German Desk in the Eastern Province and Bahrain, Fatima Bakhsh, and Jood Alghamdi, Project Assistant PR / Trade Fair, had the pleasure of attending the Jubail Investment Forum 2025.
We were honored to participate in the event with a dedicated booth, kindly provided by the Asharqia Chamber. We extend our sincere thanksfor their generous support and continued efforts to foster meaningful business connections.
The forum was a great success, allowing us to engage with a diverse range of companies, explore new opportunities, and take part in insightful discussion on investment and regional development.

Medina is an economic powerhouse of the Western region which offers numerous opportunities for German companies. Our delegate Dr. Dalia Samra-Rohte together with Rawabi Basyouni, Head of German Desk, and Omar Hassan Hamza, Assistant of the Delegate and Head of Legal Affairs, organized jointly with the German Consul General, H.E. Dr. Eltje Aderhold a visit to Medina.
At Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce, the Healthcare, Mining, Tourism, Construction, and Infrastructure sectors were only some of the opportunities discussed. They also visited impressive community developments with potential business opportunities at Rua Al Madinah Holding, a PIF company as well as Knowledge Economic City.
The day was concluded with a tour by Anas Nassar next to the holy mosque where the German company SL Rasch GmbH showed some impressive reference projects like the umbrellas, they have conducted in cooperation with the German company Liebherr Group.

On April 27, GESALO held a German-speaking roundtable. The German ambassador to Saudi Arabia, H.E. Michael Kindsgrab presented a political outlook. Our Delegate, Dr. Dalia Samra-Rohte gave an economic insight. This was followed by a fruitful discussion between the participants.

The food sector in Saudi Arabia is undergoing a significant transformation, propelled by Vision 2030's emphasis on food security, economic diversification, and sustainability. This evolution is evident in major industry events like the Saudi Food Manufacturing 2025 exhibition, held from April 13–15 at the Riyadh Front Exhibition & Conference Center. Under the patronage of H.E. Bandar Ibrahim Al Khorayef, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, it served as a pivotal platform for showcasing innovations in food processing, packaging, and logistics. The exhibitors came from more than 70 countries, including a large number of German exhibitors.
Our delegate Dr. Dalia Samra-Rohte had the pleasure to visit the German exhibitors together with Ambassador H.E. Michael Kindsgrab of the German Embassy Riyadh to get an impression of this growing industry.

In May, GESALO hosted an exclusive networking event in collaboration with Messe Düsseldorf in Riyadh,This event aimed to bring together key industry leaders and stakeholders in Riyadh ahead of the K Show 2025. A special highlight of the event was the presence of Ms. Petra Cullmann, Member of the Board at Messe Düsseldorf, and Mr. Thomas Franken, Director of the K Show, who provided insights into the world’s leading trade fair.
K is the leading international trade fair in the plastics and rubber industry. Each time, the event attracts a large number of professionals from production, processing and related sectors such as mechanical engineering, the automotive industry, electronics, medical technology, the packaging industry and the construction industry from all over the world.

The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Investment is endeavouring to promote industrial investment in the Kingdom in order to make it easier for companies to enter the Saudi market. The focus is on new and sustainable technologies.
This interest is reflected in a meeting between the Saudi Arabian Minister of Investment, Mr Khalid Al-Falih, and the German start-up GI AQUA TECH GmbH in Berlin. During this meeting, the Minister learned about the benefits of GI's unique wastewater treatment technology and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Centre for Waste Management (MWAN).
Following this meeting, GI AQUA TECH GmbH was given the opportunity to test the GNANO technology for the first time in the Kingdom in collaboration with the Hajj Ministry as part of the Hajj Wastewater Treatment Project. The results of the project were impressive. The project was honoured with the Global Water Awards as ‘Industrial Project of the Year 2024’.
Following this success, GI Water as a Service secures a $1 Billion valuation in a Series A financing and becomes the first unicorn in the water sector in the MENA region. |
